A new development in the Seattle suburb of Bellevue has resulted in a resurgance of foot traffic and created an atmosphere of urban vitality.
"It doesn't take a keen eye to see a pedestrian renaissance is poking through the concrete jungle at Bellevue's busiest intersection. It's a concept Bellevue has encouraged for 20 years, without much success, but now developers and urban designers agree that a new Crate & Barrel store has been a watershed." Planners for the city hope other developers will follow suit, creating an appealling commercial district for pedestrians.
