Transportation On Parade

Washington County, Utah invites the public once a year to see what transportation projects are in the works and talk to planners and engineers. The meet-and-greet has proved highly popular and a way for information to flow both ways.

Reporter David DeMille writes, "Kevin Kitchen, UDOT's public involvement manager, said these projects have become especially interesting in Washington County, where the high-rate growth of the 2000s necessitated some unique cooperative efforts, such as planning for the Southern Parkway, a $455 million highway that would run through parts of St. George, Washington and Hurricane. As growth and development bring the communities closer together, traffic concerns cross over municipal lines, he said."
