Dallas Rejects Super-sized Billboards

"In the last two years, five Supergraphics have appeared on the side of a downtown parking garage. The vinyl mesh images included, most recently, a multistory Dallas Mavericks star Michael Finley leaping above the city's skyline to dunk the moon. City officials, reviewing the existing sign ordinance, determined that new regulations were needed to deal with the oversized signs. Although few seemed to take issue with supersizing local sports heroes, some plan commissioners said they could not support a policy that would allow "crass commercialism" writ large on downtown walls."
