Obama Health Care Bill May Create Demand for Medical Office Space

Coming to a permit desk near you: applications for medical office buildings, or at least real estate brokers hope so. Paul Wexler with the Corcoran Group in New York tells the Wall Street Journal "there will be a need for medical providers to be in [low income] areas where people now go to emergency rooms...to get their care."

Others are a bit more skeptical about a medical office space boon, including Eileen Sheil, with the Cleveland Clinic, who says she doesn't see a "surge in real estate." But she sees a need for updating and reconfiguring facilities to meet rising patient demand.
