The Klip House is a series of modular, prefab units that can be clipped together much like the binding on a ski boot, allowing homeowners to lease or own the home parts they need for their stage in life, then upgrade or downgrade when necessary.
Texas architects Interloop designed the system as a reaction to the way housing is financed, with the goal of creating flexible financing options.
Geoff Manaugh from BLDGBLG writes that Interloop is working on the idea that "producing new housing also means producing new (non-predatory) ways to finance those housing options-architects have to rethink systems of payment as much as they have to rethink the design parameters of prefab componentry."
