A controversial plan being pushed by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom to ban sitting or laying on public sidewalks during certain hours of the day has been voted down by supervisors.
"'The case for this legislation simply has not been made,' said Supervisor David Campos."
But the idea is not dead yet.
"Defeat was expected, and the mayor already has said that he would use his executive power to put his measure before voters in November."
