Urban designer Paolo Soleri - best known for his utopian experiment Arcosanti - also designed an open air theater for the Santa Fe Indian School. The campus wants to demolish it, but preservationists are up in arms.
The school says that the structure, which Soleri designed in 1964, "costs too much to maintain." New Mexico's Cultural Properties Review Committee and Solieri himself are speaking out against the school's decision, but the school is on tribal land and can make decisions outside of a planning process.
