A model city of the future-north of Guadalajara-is being designed by celebrity architects at a cost of $400 million.
The city is to be an economic friendly community of art, business and entertainment. It will include upscale housing, an art museum, sports arena, hotel, convention center, entertainment complex and university. Mexican magnate, Jorge Vegara, is providing the funds, but is allowing the architects total freedom to shape their vision. Some fear the design will be superficial and slick, using architecture as a marketing tool and crass publicity stunt.
