According to Robert Weissbourd, the secret is "positive mobility"; that is, the ability to be in constant motion, turning over with people and businesses coming and going.
Neal Peirce spoke with Weissbord about a specific zip code in Seattle that is the "most diverse" zip code in the country, according to the Census Bureau. Weissbord credits the flexibility of this neighborhood as a reason for its success.
"Neighborhoods need to attract the residents, the businesses, the investments they want - or they're dying," says Weissbord.
Weissbord and his RW Ventures firm have developed a new way to measure success they call "Dynamic Neighborhoods."
