"Akron industrialist O.C. Barber founded this city in 1891 as a planned community for his match factory and for several hundred houses built on 550 acres. The city spread out in concentric circles from Lake Anna ... with large Victorian homes bordering the lake, followed by a ring of retail stores. The outer ring was a swath of smaller homes. An able-bodied resident can walk to the lake within five minutes from any point in the old city limits." A new proposal for the community would create Ohio's largest neo-traditional neighborhood community.
