Moratorium On Great Lakes Drilling

The Senate have agreed on requiring a 2-year moratorium on drilling under the Great Lakes which contain 20 percent of the world's surface water.

The congressional effort to stop drilling beneath the lakes comes as Michigan's Republican governor, John Engler, is pressing to allow it in his state and the Bush administration is seeking to expand areas of the country open to drilling.
