Maryland Brownfields Program Off To Slow Start

Maryland's brownfields program has only managed to develop two sites, while Pennsylvania's has been a staggering success -- 258 sites.

"Expectations were sky high when Maryland's leaders agreed on a program to encourage redevelopment of old industrial sites ... But more than four years later, the Maryland Brownfields Revitalization Incentive Program is still struggling to take off. Just two sites have been redeveloped through the program. Critics say Maryland's program doesn't do enough to encourage developers to risk investing in old industrial properties."
