"To some she is a hero, a reincarnation of Percival Baxter, the wealthy governor who bequeathed to Maine what is now Baxter State Park. To others, she might as well be a flatlander for all the respect she shows for Maine's heritage as a lumber producer... Ms. Quimby says she is ready to put every cent she has into buying land. Even then, says Jym St. Pierre, Maine director for Restore the North Woods, she will not be able to buy all the land needed for the park, but she sets an example for others."
