As Russia prepares to host the 2018 World Cup, officials are predicting that infrastructure projects will see a major boost.
More than $50 billion is estimated to be spent on infrastructure ahead of the international soccer tournament.
"Domestically Russia will be able to finally resolve the long-running problem of regional transport inefficiency, primarily for international connections, and consequently Moscow's transport hub congestion.
That's at long as all the country's main cities get airports with international status and upgrade their transport, business and hotel infrastructure.
'The federal programme for transport development can be restructured to meet the requirements of the World Cup,' said Svetlana Vorontsova, deputy director of the Regional Planning and Transport Infrastructure Institute."
