Route 1: An Impossible Project?

The project to revitalize 80 miles of Route 1 across five counties in the Washington area could costs hundreds of millions of dollars. But there is no consensus on a common vision.

And then put it all back together with the right mix of planning, business incentives and political will...here is no regional consensus on what the road should become. And there is plenty of resistance from residents and business owners who like Route 1 as is and think the governments' attempts are misguided and naive. To some...revitalization is a fancy word for killing perfectly vital businesses."
