With a downtown largely devoid of trees, Minneapolis is considering a new plan that would add more green life and greenspace to the city's center.
"A series of meetings last week appeared to lay groundwork for softening downtown's hard edges with more tree-lined streets, pocket parks and perhaps a central park, all aimed at bringing downtown under the green canopy that covers much of the rest of the city.
'There's a tremendous momentum in this city to make downtown a more beautiful, more complete place,' said David A. Wilson, managing director of Accenture's Minneapolis office."
But many in the city are looking at the effort not only as a way to beautify the city, but also to make it more livable and attractive to new residents and businesses.
