In Montreal's increasingly trendy Mile End district, the issue at hand is quite simply: "cars or people?" Famous Canadian author Mordecai Richler's old stomping grounds are being threatened by the extension of the Laval Expressway directly into the downtown core, bringing in an almost intolerable level of traffic. This, coupled with plans for a new tramway project, are leaving Mile End residents frustrated and longing for the good old days.
