Food Markets are Booming

Angela Starita reports on the growing popularity of "haute food courts" -- high-end food markets -- and what they mean for cities.

Eataly, a food hall and market in Chelsea, has created "nothing less than a food revolution-at least in terms of the retail experience," writes Starita.

"'We are in a market renaissance in this country,' said David K. O'Neill, a market consultant who helps bring what he calls 'haute food courts' to parks, waterfronts, and campuses."

Starita looks at how the spectacle of these food emporiums sucks in visitors even waiting in long lines to get their elite meats and cheeses.
