Google announced that it had chosen Kansas City, Kansas as the launching site for an experimental fiber-optic network with speeds of up to 1 Gb per second.
"Our goal is to deliver Internet speeds more than 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today," says Google's website set up to answer questions from Kansas City residents.
