The Duany Plater-Zyberk plan places "civic and athletic buildings in a checkerboard pattern around a series of small town squares and adding a lakefront dock to bring in more visitors," writes Jeff Adelson.

Mandeville's city center suffered with the construction of the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway. DPZ hopes to attract more lakefront traffic with the new dock.
