Indiana State Sen. Luke Kenley thinks the state's redevelopment agencies have too much freedom to approve spending on large projects and has proposed a bill to curb their power, but the state House has refused to hear the bill.
Chris Sikich of the Indianapolis Star writes that State Rep. Phil Hinkle, also a Republican, "said he wasn't going to hear the bill in his House Government and Regulatory Reform Committee.":
"Trying to save the legislation Thursday, Kenley ushered it into an unrelated tax bill that's already passed the House. Kenley believes the Senate will pass the amended bill next week."
Opponents of the bill are concerned that it would slow down development agencies too much in their ability to make development deals.
