With $100 million set aside in D.C.'s budget for streetcars, the D.C.'s Department of Transportation is looking at opening new streetcar lines on M and K Streets.
Ben Giles reports on the proposed routes:
"...DDOT interim Director Terry Bellamy said the city would begin planning this summer for a streetcar on M Street, an extension of the Benning Road streetcar to the Benning Road Metro station, and combined bus and streetcar transit lanes on K Street from Union Station to Washington Circle, near George Washington University Hospital."
The DDOT is hoping to have a 35-mile network of streetcars by the year 2020.
