PWC Ranks Top "Cities of Opportunity"

PricewaterhouseCoopers recently published the fourth edition of Cities of Opportunity. The report rates 26 cities in a range of categories (including transportation and infrastructure, for example) and then comes up with a master ranking.

According to PWC, this year's number one "City of Opportunity" is New York. Toronto, San Francisco, Stockholm, and Sydney comprised the rest of the top 5.

"As the report points out, the key to being near the top of the list is a great transit system:

It is no accident that one of the most culturally evocative icons of each of the top four cities in this category (in ascending order) is its respective transport system: San Francisco's cable cars, New York's subway, Chicago's "L" and Paris' Métro-a particularly apt example of municipal infrastructure becoming a part of, and reinforcing, a city's cultural identity."
