Parking Space "Parklet" Stolen in Entirety

The Actual Cafe in Oakland, California proudly opened an extension of their space last Wednesday into a parking space, creating a parklet for customers. Later that evening, someone stole the whole thing.

The owners caught the theft on a surveillance camera:

"According to Sal and the team at Actual Cafe, it seems that "the parklet was moved between 5:40 and 6 p.m. last night (May 18), on a white Subaru wagon, license plate 4UEG667.""

The parklet consists of a handful of chairs and tables, wooden-slat floors and walls, and a couple of planters with native plants. The cafe was inspired by the "pavement-to-parklet" movement in nearby San Francisco, even though there is still not official support for such activities.
