MIMBYs? Seattle plans to build a one-story light-rail station in the Roosevelt neighborhood's commercial district, but locals are fighting for greater density and reducing zoning restrictions on the site.
Reporter Larry Lange talks to Jim O'Halloran of the Roosevelt Neighborhood Association, who is pushing Sound Transit leadership to get denser:
"It seems to me that there could be and should be a richer array of functions at that site, which is destined to become a focal point of our community," says O'Halloran.
The actual light-rail stop runs under the neighborhood, so the station just caps the location. Current zoning however limit the type of development at the site. Seattle Mayor Mike McGinn is advocated for raising the height limit in the neighborhood.
