A nonprofit organization is hoping to rebuild a 14-mile train from Teague to Mexia to boost tourism in the area.
"The excursion is designed to bring more tourism into the area, helping to revitalize both of the towns while celebrating the history of the first passenger route in the area... The idea calls for a passenger train that would give tourists easier access to area activities. It would highlight Mexia's Old Fort Parker, which is currently undergoing renovations. Work includes construction of an amphitheater that will tell the story of Cynthia Ann Parker, the mother of Quanah Parker, the last of the great Comanche chiefs."
