With high scores in five broad categories, Melbourne, Australia received the highest spot in livability rankings from The Economist's research unit.
The Economist Intelligence Unit, the original in-house research unit for The Economist, released a livability ranking report of 140 cities from around the world. The full report must be purchased, but a summary can be downloaded for free.
The City Fix had a peek at the report:
"Melbourne, Australia topped the list with a livability rating of 98 out of 100 in all of the livability categories. Harare, Zimbabwe received the lowest livability rating out of the 140 cities, with a score of 38.2, which EIU describes as "most aspects of living are severely restricted."
The report explains that for the first time in nearly a decade, Vancouver is not at the top of the livability rankings."
