Yesterday, the Brooklyn's Landmark Preservation Commission unanimously approved the creation of an historic district in the downtown.
Despite the Commission's unanimity, some property owners in the area were less pleased, reports Marlon Bishop:
"In January, several real estate holding companies and business organizations, including the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, signed onto a letter asking that the landmarks commission reconsider a vote to approve the district."
The opposition felt that added regulations would impede growth. The new district includes a number of art deco towers and a few smaller buildings.
