4th Best City to Buy a House and Find a Job: Detroit?

Homes in Detroit are certainly cheap, but are there jobs? Data from jobs site SimplyHired and real estate search engine Trulia says yes.

The same analysis showed that it is expensive to rent in Detroit, and it is expensive to live there.

According to a press release from the two online companies, Long Beach and Los Angeles are great places to rent and get jobs, while Honolulu is the worst:

"Honolulu, Hawaii is the worst city for job seekers planning to rent a home -- offering the highest median rental price and some of the lowest job opening numbers."

The joint press release says that homeowners are still not selling, but jobs are coming back:

'Year-over-year job growth has increased in 98 percent of the top U.S. cities, and we're finally seeing jobs come back to pre-recession levels of just over five million listings nationally,' said Gautam Godhwani, CEO of SimplyHired.com."
