Everyone in Pasadena is hoping that this New Urbanism project succeeds. New Urbanism strives to bring a new way of life to tired city centers. Paseo Colorado is a regional prototype for urban renewal. It has about 70 shops and restaurants and 387 apartments. Many of the shops open today and the apartments will be ready for occupancy after January 1, 2002.
