"...to commit so many prime acres only to commemoration and mourning would to again be bested by the terrorists. We need a new World Trade Center, one whose essential character is akin to that of the old." " We must remember that our loss was not of a great monument that represented architecture, commerce and tourism of the 20th century, but that we lost living and breathing people who once pulsed through that area."" Surely, as we mourn the dead, we can't seriously be thinking of erecting other buildings that would take more than an hour to evacuate."" Some leaders in the architectural world urge rebuilding the World Trade Center towers as a symbol of our strength -- a way of standing up to the terrorists. I beg the architectural community to unite and assist in the ideas to rebuild not with an eye toward terrorism but toward us."
