The Pew Oceans Commission is expected to report that sprawl and waste runoff are threatening the nation's East and West coasts.
"Formed last year with a $4.5 million grant from the nonprofit Pew Charitable Trusts, its 19 members include Gov. Tony Knowles of Alaska and Gov. George Pataki of New York.The commission is led by former Clinton White House chief of staff Leon Panetta. The panel is to report to Congress next fall on coastal issues including marine pollution, urban development, fishing, aquaculture and climate change."
