Your DOT likely has a lot more experience on these issues than you do, whether you're a community, a city, or an individual. And once you begin working with your DOT, you'll learn that it is a solidly structured and well-funded organization, geared to fulfill its mandate effectively.When there's a hitch, the cause is usually that your DOT's standard approach does not suit the particular context of your community. What do you do in such a case? Having had some success in this area, I was asked by Planning to provide some advice.
