"After months of public debate, the Fox administration announced Monday that a new international airport will be built for an estimated $2.5 billion on a dry lake bed 14 miles east of Mexico City.Environmentalists object to using the salt-encrusted Texcoco lake bed, saying it would threaten thousands of migratory birds from the U.S. and Canada that nest nearby and could be sucked into plane engines."
