Indiana's smaller cities are experiencing a problem they thought only impacted big cities -- sprawl.

"'Over the last 10 years, we've lost over a million acres. If we don't do something now, 10 to 15 years down the road, we're going to have trouble with viable farmland.' In Indiana, the Evansville area grew five times faster than its population; South Bend, four times; Fort Wayne, three times; and Bloomington and Lafayette, twice as fast. Even areas that lost population added more development. Muncie's population fell by 5 percent, but the city doubled its developed land."
