In the real estate market best known for creative acronyms (DUMBO anyone?), perhaps the only thing missing from this neighborhood is a catchy name, writes Alison Gregor. Trump Town anyone?
Gregor reports on the maturation of the neighborhood, occupying 77 acres stretching from 59th to 72nd Street on the west side of Manhattan, envisioned by Donald Trump twenty years ago. Called Riverside Boulevard by some, the area now boasts 8,000 people living in 4,000 apartments - and plans for thousands more on the drawing board, writes Gregor.
With strong sales and celebrity residents, the neighborhood may have finally come of age. According to Gregor, "In the last year, sales along Riverside Boulevard have outperformed the rest of the Manhattan market, and the condos, many with sweeping views of the Hudson, have attracted celebrities like Alex Rodriguez and Plácido Domingo."
Gregor outlines the neighborhoods contentious birth (is anything Trump proposes not contentious?) and what makes it an attractive address for celebrities and families also looking in Battery Park City and TriBeCa.
