With a new lineup of mayors in the Triangle's four largest municipalities, observers cite a good chance for cooperation on regional issues.

"The new cast of characters, including Charles Meeker in Raleigh, Bill Bell in Durham and Kevin Foy in Chapel Hill, all support regional strategies to issues such as traffic and development, including a regional mass transit system. They'll join Cary Mayor Glen Lang, who was elected two years ago on a platform of slowing development. The four promise a closer, more coordinated approach to dealing with the region's growing population."
