Despite the weird names, Yamacraw is an important component of 'Centergy' -- the centerpiece of Altanta's technology economic development initiative.
"Centergy --- planned for a 12.5-acre site bounded by Fifth Street, Spring Street, Peachtree Place and Williams Street --- ultimately would have more than 2 million square feet of office and retail space. It will be adjacent to Georgia Tech's $180 million Technology Square development, which will include a new home for the DuPree College of Management, a hotel and a 50,000-square-foot bookstore run by Barnes & Noble. Construction started last month at Technology Square.'
