An Bay Area Rapid Transit extension to San Jose, CA, has been approved.
"The Metropolitan Transportation Commission inked an $87.4 billion regional transportation plan that earmarks gas and sales taxes, bridge tolls, federal funds, and other money over 25 years. It also endorsed a $10.5 billion expansion plan for projects on less viable financial footing... The 2001 Regional Transportation Plan funds transit expansion, bus operations, streets and highways, and other transportation-related programs. More than three-quarters of the money is slated for transit, with the biggest chunk for BART to San Jose."
