The Segway Human Transporter is designed for covering distances that are too far to walk but too close to drive to. But other devices that do the same thing are already available.

As it turns out, there are a host of electric scooters already on the market that will zip you around town. No, they don't use gyroscopes to balance themselves, as Segway does. But if you can balance yourself on a bicycle, you can probably ride one of these electric scooters."
