"Some changes make sense, reflecting the sad truth that America remains a target of terror no matter what happens in Afghanistan. But others are extreme. ... Concrete barriers are still creating an obstacle course around the Federal Reserve, a 13-story structure that's fortress-like to begin with. Bank spokeswoman Carol Eckert calls the barriers 'temporary' but says they'll be in place until the bank finds what Eckert calls 'an attractive permanent solution that will meet our security needs.'"
