A collective of practitioners, students, academics and activists have drafted a manifesto aimed at examining the current state of planning in the United Kingdom, and the scope for radical, alternative approaches, reports Cristiana Strava.
Last week, "Planners Network U.K. (PNUK) released a draft of what they hope will become a manifesto for progressive urban planning in the United Kingdom," writes Strava. The document, "A manifesto for planning and land reform" [PDF], "encourages critical thinking and public-led alternatives to the current dominance of market-based approaches."
The co-authors of the document are hoping that it will, "serve as a catalyst for what [they] see as a much-needed debate around current planning and land-use practices," and are soliciting comments on their website and wiki page. PNUK are also planning events in London and Sheffield over the next several months to debate the ideas discussed in the manifesto.
