New York City officials said that tall skyscrapers at the site of the World Trade Center are not "economically practical" and preferred a victims' memorial and smaller structures.
"Mayor Michael Bloomberg and the chairman of the board responsible for rebuilding the site said replacing the twin towers with huge skyscrapers is not economically practical.Instead of 110-story buildings, the site should feature a victim's memorial and perhaps several smaller structures, said the mayor and John Whitehead, the chairman of the Lower Manhattan Redevelopment Corp."
