Is it a case of bad urban planning, or a case of junk science? The CDC's study has struck a nerve.
One side says that people are becoming unhealthy because of poor urban planning that encourages a sedentary life style and a dependence on autos. The other side says that this is bunk and that this new study comes on the heels of another CDC study which says that residents of master-planned communities are the pillars of good health. Many urban planning experts are saying that now is the time for the public health community to enter the urban sprawl debate.
