Departing from the monolithic face of the standard grocery store, Theodore divides the exterior into a series of clearly articulated parts, such as the brick walls and columns that project from the Wabash facade. Along Roosevelt, the cast stone (a mix of concrete that resembles natural stone) seems to float above the windows, a welcome change from the typical grocery store's leaden image."
