Driving a mile or two to your local MTA parking lot? For half the parking fee, you can lease a scooter from them.
It will cost the MTA about $368,000 to buy 500 electric scooters--even a few 'Gingers'--which they will then lease to commuters. MTA planners hope that this will help to alleviate parking congestion. Electric bicycles are also on the menu. Critics say that MTA should just encourage people to walk or use regular bicycles to get to the lots.
