Spurred by a recent post by Ben Ross at Greater Greater Washington on the horrors of trying to cross the 28 lanes of traffic at the intersection of Route 355 and Shady Grove Road near Rockville, Maryland, Streetsblog sent out a call for nominations for the illustrious title of "Worst Intersection in America."

Streetsblog's readers did not dissapoint. Entries include a 45-lane monstrosity in Wellington, Florida, which Transportation for America just happened to name as the most dangerous state for pedestrians, and the intersection of Missouri 141 and Gravois Road in St. Louis, which boasts 25 lanes, no sidewalks and no crosswalks - and "is right next to a 'kids’ play center.'"

At the time of this writing, the intersection of Potrero Avenue and Division Street in San Francisco is in the lead.
