It is important that the development community continually look for ways to evolve. And while some believe that evolution includes building master planned communities in Orange and Ventura Counties, there are a growing number who look upon the urban core as the key to handling future growth in the City of Los Angeles. To prevent the continuance of a paradigm which fosters suburban sprawl and bland architecture, architect Johannes Van Tilburg argues that what is needed is for cities to be more stringent in telling developers what kinds of buildings they will design and then incentivizing them to design them.
