New Affordable Housing Rises In Portland, OR

A new building is designed to attract low-income residents, particularly Asian Americans, back to a historic part of downtown Portland.

The $18 million Pacific Tower will feature 156 affordable units for people 55 and over. In a twist, the building's studio units, which have the most appeal to low-income residents, will be located on the top three floors of the 15-story building. Also special design considerations, like a second-floor common area with a tai chi circle, are designed to appeal to Asian Americans, especially Chinese Americans.
