On Tuesday, several members of Congress overseeing the approval of Frank Gehry's design and the budgetary requirements for the Eisenhower Memorial expressed their disapproval at a subcommittee hearing.
Frank Gehry's design for the Eisenhower Memorial in Washington, D.C. is under question once again.
Rep. Sam Bishop (R-Utah) has introduced a congressional reauthorization bill for the Eisenhower Memorial Commission which would strip the project of $100 million and nix Gehry's design, sending the project back to the drawing board.
Although the AIA and Democratic supporters in Congress have issued statements against "arbitrary" design by Congressional committee, members of Eisenhower's family side with Bishop, believing that taxpayers would be better served by a simpler memorial.
Gehry's design has already undergone significant changes from the original proposal and could be subject to further revision.
